OPUS welcomes visiting guests and researchers. The collections are non-circulating. Please note that we require at least two weeks notice in order to schedule a research visit in the archives, and that information regarding interest and subject matter to be reviewed is necessary to plan a visit.
Preparing for Scholar’s Visit
For a scholar’s visit, we need time to prepare and to do our research so you can do yours! Our staff makes every effort to design the research experience for optimum productivity and efficiency. To prepare for your visit:
-
Collections
The Collections page includes biographical information about the scholars, their published works, and the scope of the collection.
-
Online Databases
Online Databases include Archives and Manuscripts, for individual or cross-collection results in the Archives, as well as for personal reference libraries of James Campbell and Marija Gimbutas.
-
Collection Organization
When using these search tools, note that collections may be organized thematically, by titles of works, or both. For example, Catal Huyuk may be a theme you wish to explore, or you may wish to look at the research notes for the publication Re-Visioning Psychology.
Once you begin to get a sense of what you need, contact the Archivist at info (at) opusarchives.org and we will begin working on research possibilities prior to your visit to the archives.
Visiting Opus
Manuscripts and papers are located on the Pacifica Graduate Institute Ladera campus, and the Joseph Campbell and Marija Gimbutas personal libraries are located on Pacifica’s Lambert campus. See Visiting OPUS for more information on archive or special library hours and to schedule a visit to either location.
