Board of Directors of OPUS Archives and Research Center
Announces Steps Forward
As we conclude our annual fall board retreat, OPUS celebrates almost four years in its new manifestation and marks many milestones, including the addition of four remarkable collections, significant growth in donor support and volunteer involvement, launch of the Joseph Campbell Mythological Roundtable, publication of "The Root and the Bloom" newsletter, and the awarding of two grant cycles, include the most recent $35,000 grant pool for the "New Mythos" grant, providing 13 stipends for research in the archives.
With the closing of 2009, Dr. Elise Collins Shields will complete her commitment to the launch of OPUS in its start up phase. The OPUS Board wishes to publicly thank Elise for her extraordinary contribution to the rebirth of the Archives and Research Center and for her efforts in securing the strong foundation upon which OPUS will continue to thrive. Elise will assist with the transition as OPUS has now become an established and mature institution.
Moving forward, we are pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Safron Rossi as Director of Operations for OPUS. Safron has worked with Elise for the past years, taking the lead on many initiatives, including the Archival Assistant (docent) program, the Mythological Roundtable, facilitation of the newsletter, and many of the daily operational tasks. Having recently completed her Ph.D. in Mythological Studies, Safron is now available to assume full time responsibilities as the new OPUS Director of Operations. The Board is pleased to welcome Safron to this new position and looks forward to her continued and enhanced contribution to the organization.
During the next several months the OPUS Board will continue guiding the institution toward a rich future, bringing the OPUS Archives and Research Center into the next phase of preserving, protecting, continuing cataloguing, digitizing and further making the collections accessible to scholars from around the world.
