Gimbutas' library includes an extensive collection on archaeology, as well as numerous volumes about religion, anthropology, linguistics, mythology, folklore, and art. Access to her library catalog here.
Lecture notes from her years of teaching, figurines from her personal collection, and manuscripts of her articles and books which include: The Balts, The Gods and Goddesses of Old Europe, and The Civilization of the Goddess. Also available in her collection are over 12,000 images of the professor's photographs of prehistoric sacred figures.
Of particular interest are her research files on the European Neolithic cultures of Old Europe (21 boxes arranged alphabetically, 12 boxes arranged by region), and 8 boxes of files on Symbols (arranged alphabetically). Her collection holds an important place in the OPUS archives, and is available for review and research by appointment.

Author-Subject Files
Includes primarily archeological articles, mostly arranged by author’s name with some folders labeled with a subject. They are at present in three series, from different sections of Gimbutas’ offices.
Research Files
Her collection of research files, which generally contains manuscript drafts, hand written and typewritten notes, articles and reprints, covers a broad area of study including: Ancient Symbolism in Lithuanian Folk Art, Slavic Religion, Religion of Old Europe, Lengyel & East Balkan, Cucuteni, Linear Pottery Culture, Catal Huyuk, James Mellaart, Culture Studies of Tisza, Achilleion Site (includes excavation notes, photocopies of articles, illustrations and Scaloria Cave Site (includes information on shells, excavation notes).
The research files also include proofs and drafts for The Living Goddesses, edited by Miriam Robbins Dexter and published posthumously and illustration materials files that include original illustrations and page proofs for Bronze Age Cultures, Language of the Goddess and Civilization of the Goddess.

Mostly of bibliographic citations and organized under subject.
Artifacts
Includes pottery shards and samples from archeological sites; replicas of Goddess figurines; mementos from Lithuania; commemorative medals; gifts to the collection.
Visual Materials
The visual materials in the Gimbutas collection contain thousands of slides, illustration materials for her books, film negatives, rolled maps, charts, blueprints and historical maps.
